Monica Vohs

ABOUT Monica Vohs, 2020 PRESCOTT ATHENA AWARD FINALIST

As a young adult, I was involved in several extra-curricular activities, that taught leadership, ambition and volunteerism, due in part, to an amazing mother.  In High School and college, I was a “Friends Helping Friends” peer-leader and speaker, studying Karate, and earning the Girl Scout Silver and Gold awards. Those early years of involvement, although I didn’t know it then, shaped the person I choose to be today, focused on giving back and sharing what I have with others.

I am an Arizona girl through and through, born and raised in Flagstaff. After attending NAU, I made the move to Prescott. I fell in love with our small town and the people in this area. I have been married 20 years, to my amazing husband and have two stepchildren, 3 grandchildren, a niece, nephew, 2 Godchildren, and many other “assumed” grandchildren.  They have captured my heart over the years, motivating me to continue working with the youth of our community.

Today, I hold a 16 + year career with CableONE/Sparklight Advertising as the Arizona Region Business Manager, and love what I do. Creating budgets, playing with numbers, leading, coaching, growing and sharing with our amazing team.

My passion in life is helping others, especially children, grow and become all they can. I share this passion by volunteering with the Catholic Charities North Star Youth Partnership programs in as many capacities as time permits. Serving as a mentor to middle school teens for the Girl Talk Program is one of the rewarding volunteer opportunities, I participate in.  Within our community, I support local non-profits through Prescott Women Who Care, participate in MATFORCE events, support our schools, attend community symposiums, and contribute to my husband’s passion, by participating with the Granite Mountain Archery Club.
